10 Ways to Cut Back on Plastic and Help the Ocean during ‘Plastic-Free July’

Every day it seems like there is a new story about the impact of plastic on the world’s oceans. Plastic debris covers beaches on remote islands. An island of plastic and other trash about 618,000 square miles wide called the “Great Pacific Garbage Patch” floats in the middle of Pacific. Broken down plastic has even made its way to the deep sea and into our food chain.

Plastic-Free July is an initiative out of Australia and the idea is you pick one single-use plastic item and don’t use it for the month of July.

If you want to take the challenge, here are 10 ways you can participate and start to cut down on your personal plastic waste.
